Trophy Hunters Encourage Tomb Raider Collection Players to Try the PS4 Edition

The latest lineup of free PlayStation Plus games for Essential members and above has been unveiled, marking a notable improvement after several months of less exciting offerings that included a number of sports titles. This comes at a time when PlayStation users are also facing recent price increases.

For the month of April, the standout titles available include Lords of the Fallen, Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered, and Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream. This selection provides a diverse range of gaming experiences, especially appealing to fans of the iconic Tomb Raider series, who are particularly eager to hunt for trophies.

However, it’s important for trophy enthusiasts to take note: avoid downloading the PlayStation 5 version of Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered. The reason being, this version does not feature a Platinum Trophy, which is a significant disappointment for collectors. In contrast, the PlayStation 4 version offers three separate Platinum Trophies—one for each game included in the remastered pack.

Despite the PS5 offering a substantial 268 trophies to unlock, none of them culminate in the prestigious Platinum. This inconsistency is perplexing, especially given that the sequel collection, Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered, does include a Platinum Trophy. Players venturing into the PS5 edition will find themselves with many trophies to achieve, but without the coveted Platinum as a completion reward.

Adding to the frustration, a recent update to the remastered collection introduced 15 new trophies, but disappointingly, none of these are Platinum. All new additions are Bronze, requiring players to meet challenging criteria to unlock them.

The absence of a Platinum Trophy in the PS5 version remains a mystery, possibly linked to the way trophies are categorized, treating each game as “DLC” instead of standalone titles.

This isn’t the first incident involving trophy inconsistencies within the PlayStation ecosystem. The Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves collection, which bundles Uncharted 4 with The Lost Legacy, similarly offers only one Platinum Trophy, despite separate versions for the PS4 that feature their own Platinums.

Gamers continue to voice their concerns and frustrations regarding these trophy discrepancies as they enjoy navigating these popular titles.
